Every single sector of the education and exams system seem to be under pressure to preform, 'more for less', with a growing risk to student welfare. We all have to take a reality check and establish in this difficult climate what we now desperaly need to maintain at all costs, against a deline in funding, resources and staff, which support and can continue to support this community in the future.

8a. Do you think an independent EOA Exam SEND Service provides additional benefits to this community?

There are growing pressure on centre exams office staff to manage a more complex Access Arrangements process with often very little additional support and training so the EOA have provided a driven service which puts centres in touch with external independent expert, help, support and training. as part of the EOA ethos to add value to centre operations.

8e. Do you think an independent EOA Network Service provides additional benefits to this community?

As part of the EOA ethos to add value to centre operations, this Network as proved very helpful to many down the years, and there is a need to plug lots of holes across the country which are not being served by commercially 'market driven' network groups.

8f. Do you think an independent EOA Exam Officer Blog Service is of benefit to this community?

As part of the EOA ethos to add value to centre operations, this was set up to tell the outside world just what the exam officer community get up to. It is not for general enquiries about exam office tasks or activities, but should spark more global debates over trends, concerns, solutions and insights in how best to tackle major issues and developments related to all the changes.

8g. Do you think an independent EOA Centre Support Service is of benefit to this community?

As part of the EOA ethos to add value to centre operations, this emergency service was set up to help support the growing number of centres which find themselves under pressure from all the changes in the education and exam system.

8h. Do you think an independent EOA Forum Service is of benefit to this community?

As part of the EOA ethos to add value to centre operations, this service was set up long before social media and was the life blood for so many exam officers. But it is not used as much and while social media is with us for good, and many enjoy the banter, 'it’s always good to talk', many experienced staff acknowledge that it is not a secure format for sharing sensitive information, and that most professional bodies have their own forums to do just that. And it must be made clear that one communication channel does not exclude the other, but should sit side by side, and serve appropriate needs, and should always be used responsibility, whether its within an internal secure forum or an external unsecure social media system.
