Christmas Update from EDSU
The Department for Education’s Exams Delivery Support Unit (EDSU), transferred from QCDA, will continue to provide support to all exams officers. New exams officers will still receive priority support and visits from one of our 15 field based Centre support officers (CSOs) throughout their first year. They will also receive invitations to our Spring into Summer induction training events, which will take place in March 2012.
Our four phone based CSOs are available to answer your questions and signpost you to support. More than 50% of our support over the last year was delivered by phone and email by our field based team.
Having dedicated phone based CSOs means we will be able to give a more efficient service to exams officers and allow our field based team to focus on supporting those in greatest need. Their contact details can be found on the web link below.
We also operate the Yellow Label despatch of scripts service which will still be available throughout the year to all centres running general qualifications. http://www.education.gov.uk/schools/teachingandlearning/qualifications/examsadmin/a00197093/edsu
In April, the EDSU will move to be part of the Teaching Agency which means exams officers will continue to have a dedicated unit working to support them. This highlights the importance of the role that exams officers, managers and their teams continue to play in the exams system in this country. http://www.education.gov.uk/aboutdfe/armslengthbodies/b0077806/the-teaching-agency
May I take this opportunity of congratulating the EOA on the work it has done to raise the profile of EOs and the support it gives to its membership and the whole community which helps to ensure our young peoples’ achievements are not unduly affected by the exams management processes. We look forward to continuing our work with the EOA in 2012.
Exams officers do a great job and I wish you all a very merry Christmas and all the very best in the new year
All the very best Harvey Neve Head of EDSU DfE |
