Ofqual communication: I am writing to make you aware that today we launched ‘Consultation on changes to Diploma regulation’.
This document sets out how we intend to change the regulatory requirements for the 14-19 Diploma. It seeks views on proposals which will allow for delivery of the Diploma without a government operated results service where there is demand for it, retain robust regulation of all Diploma components, and allow for the development of new qualifications based on existing Diploma components. The consultation period begins today, Monday 13th June and closes on 5 September.
The consultation is available at: http://comment.ofqual.gov.uk/changes-to-diploma-regulation/ I hope that you will take this opportunity to give us your views on the proposals.
JCQ communication: At the most recent meeting of the JCQ Teacher Association Liaison Group on the 17 May 2011, the JCQ has produced a Notice to Centres drawing attention to the Ofqual consultation regarding possible changes to the regulatory requirements for Diploma qualifications and how information on the rationale for this consultation may be found. The link to the respective JCQ document is: http://www.jcq.org.uk/attachments/published/1540/Diploma%20consultation%2015062011.pdf
You are requested to please bring this document and the respective consultation to your centre’s attention, so that those schools and colleges currently offering Diploma qualifications or who will offer Diploma qualifications in September 2011 have every opportunity to participate
