On the 24th May 2012 – an organisation called Inside government invited a number of speakers to address the following title ‘Testing & Assessment : Creating a World Class Qualifications System’ including the EOA which focused on its community and how they ‘deliver a secure & creditable exams system’. This was an important forum for explaining the important role of the exams office community to a broader audience and to highlight the following issues.
Glenys Stacey, Chief Executive of Ofqual spoke on securing standards in Qualifications, while Rory Cobb, Principle Officer for the RNIB highlighted the problems with having to digest the JCQ ‘pink booklet’ on assess arrangements and special considerations. Ian Lynch, director of Ingot and representing NAACE focused on how e-assessment had an important future in this area.Tim Oats, chair of the National Curriculum Review Expert Panel outlined the thinking behind change in the National Curriculum and what the impact might be on future exams and assessment.
