Isolation, a thing of the past
When the EOA began its crusade back in 2000 to raise the profile of the exams office community one theme seemed to dominate many discussions and that was the isolation many felt, often physically tucked away under the stairs or in converted broom cupboards struggling to deliver one of the key outputs of most education establishments, namely exams.
Over recent years we seemed to be pretty successful at securing a better more equipped office to meet the needs and demands of an ever expanding exams system. Many centres had invested in new secure storage facilities to ensure that the exam system in their centres provided a professional service to its students.
But times, they are changing. We are hearing more and more comments from across the country about exams office staff losing their offices altogether and being put in a communal office where there is no security and a total lack of privacy to deal with sometimes very sensitive and personal material.
We shall be picking up this theme in our annual survey coming soon but please tell the office if you are facing this problem – title – “ accommodation problems” |
