The EOA is working in partnership with Texthelp Ltd to help establish a more effective and responsive professional exam office workforce in schools and colleges, who can promote and encourage assistive technology in the exams process across the UK and abroad.
Texthelp Ltd. supply exam reading software, Read&Write Gold, to schools across the UK.
Changes to JCQ arrangements mean that Read&Write Gold can be used as a computer reader by UK schools in GCSE and A level exams (in place of human readers), even where reading is being assessed.
This has made examinations accessible to all students and opened up a world of opportunity for dyslexic students to be assessed on a level playing field. Use of computer readers in examinations is having a direct impact on the role of exams office staff in schools across the country.
