New Media Learning

The EOA is working in partnership with New Media Learning Ltd who provide the 4Matrix Professional Toolkit which can have a direct impact on the role of exams office staff in schools and colleges across the country.

Members of the EOA can order a free trial of 4Matrix from http://www.4matrix.org/trial using the offer code ‘EOA’.

4Matrix is a school-based, database application that provides tools for importing examination data from an MIS or spreadsheet, for analysing the performance of each subject in relation to national comparative data and providing comprehensive performance reports for subject leaders and school leaders. It is of particular value when the August examination results arrive as it can import, process and report examination results within an hour of receiving them.

The administrator can set the application up to be used across the school to support teachers' research into the comparative achievement of selected groups of learners. Current grades for Y10 and Y11 classes, or mock examination results can be imported and used with forecasting and research tools to examine future performance. 4Matrix can be used all year round as a universal data-handling toolkit to import, edit, analyse, produce diagnostic reports and export processed results into Excel. 4Matrix protects your sensitive school data through the use of a secure user management system run by an administrator.

4Matrix is undergoing continuous development. New features will appear automatically in the application as they are developed. Currently in development are a 'Lesson Evaluation System' and a 'Progress Management Tool'.
New Media Learning Ltd provides remote support for resolving technical issues and offering quick 'how to' training.

As apart of the partnership agreement the EOA provides:
  • consultation on exams office developments
  • access to the examination community
  • promotion on the EOA website and other activities
  • access to the EOA annual conference

In return New Media Learning provides:

  • a 10% discounted price on the cost of the annual licence to members of the EOA
  • Advice and support to members on the use of 4Matrix
  • support for activities of the EOA where possible
  • links from the 4Matrix website to the EOA website and services

While this partnership agreement is based on a shared objective of providing future solutions to members' ICT needs, the EOA does not endorse any specific product under its charitable status. However, the EOA seeks to provide opportunities to members to explore and develop products and services that might not have become available through other avenues. Over the years the EOA has been working with awarding bodies, government agencies and ICT providers to encourage cooperation and coordination in this area. The EOA believes that this type of relationship fosters a greater sense of shared ownership in the successful delivery of present and future exam systems.
